Welcome to the Apex Jazz Festival!
Great music, a great location, and fantastic weather all contributed to the success of the Second Annual Apex Jazz Festival last September, presented by the Apex Downtown Business Association (ADBA). Over 8,000 festival-goers filled Salem street, enjoying music at the outdoor stage, 11 pub venues, and performances by street musicians throughout the day. The addition of the beer garden to the 2012 event was hugely successful, and solidified the beer garden as a focal point of the Apex Jazz Festival for years to come. The Third Annual Apex Jazz Festival will be on Saturday, September 21, 2013. As planning is now underway for this year’s festival, organizers are asking for submissions from musicians interested in performing. “We expanded musically last year and added a wider variety of music, not just jazz. We had some great blues performances from artists like Ironing Board Sam and Big Ron Hunter, and our headliner, Seth Walker,” said John Kozicki, member of the planning board for the festival, owner of Music & Rock School, and ADBA member. “We’re looking for all types of musical acts this year. Jazz, blues, rock, soul, street musicians, solo performers, small combos, full bands – everything! We want to see the festival continue to grow, and bring great music to Downtown Apex for everyone in attendance.”
The deadline for submissions is May 17, 2013. Submissions must include a bio, audio samples, and contact information. Performance videos are also appreciated, but not necessary. Inquiries and submissions can be directed to apexjazzfest.booking@gmail.com..
